Days and Months in German language!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;\">Let&#8217;s now explore the names of days and months in German.\u00a0 The concept <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.howtopronounce.com\/german\/tag\"><em>&#8216;Tag&#8217;<\/em><\/a>\u00a0 or &#8216;<em>Tage&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> in the plural, which stands for <em>&#8216;<strong>Day&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> in English. <em><strong>&#8216;Monat&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> is referred to month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;\">In German, Monday and Tuesday are known as <strong><em>&#8216;Montag&#8217;<\/em> &amp; <em>&#8216;Dienstag&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> (Deens-taag) respectively, while Wednesday is called as<strong> <em>&#8216;Mittwoch&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> (Meett- vokh)(<em>Mitt<\/em> denotes middle &amp; <em>Woch<\/em> means a week, indicating that Wednesday is the middle of the week). <em>&#8216;<strong>Donnerstag&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> is the name for Thursday. Friday is known as <em><strong>&#8216;Freitag&#8217;<\/strong> (Fray-Tag),<\/em> while Saturday and Sunday are known as <em><strong>&#8216;Samstag&#8217;<\/strong> ( Zams-Tag)<\/em> and <em><strong>&#8216;Sonntag&#8217;<\/strong>( Zon-Tag)<\/em>, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;\">Let&#8217;s move on to learning the names of the months now that we are familiar with the names of the days.\u00a0 As I said\u00a0 above, the German word for month is<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.howtopronounce.com\/german\/monat\"><em> &#8216;Monat&#8217;<\/em><\/a><\/strong> and <strong><em>&#8216;Monate&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> (Monat-a) in the plural. January is called <em>&#8216;<strong>Januar&#8217;<\/strong>( Yaa-noo-aar)<\/em>, and February is called <em><strong>&#8216;Februar&#8217;<\/strong> (Fe-broo-ahr)<\/em>. March is called <em><strong>&#8216;M\u00e4rz&#8217;<\/strong> ( Mehrtz)<\/em> and April is called<em><strong> &#8216;April&#8217;<\/strong>( Aah-pril)<\/em>.May is <em><strong>&#8216;Mai&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> <em>(Maa-ee)<\/em>. June is <em>&#8216;<strong>Juni&#8217;<\/strong> (Yoo-nee)<\/em> and July is <em><strong>&#8216;Juli&#8217;<\/strong> (Yoo-lee)<\/em>. Since the letter &#8220;J&#8221; in English is pronounced as &#8220;Y&#8221; in German, January is prnounced as <em>&#8216;Yaa-noo-ahr&#8217;<\/em> and June and July are prnounced as &#8216;<em>Yoo-nee&#8217;<\/em> and &#8216;<em>Yoo-lee&#8217;<\/em>, respectively.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 18px;\">August is called as <em>&#8216;August&#8217; (Ow-goost)<\/em>, whereas September has the same spelling as English that&#8217;s &#8216;September&#8217; but different pronunciation in German which is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howtopronounce.com\/german\/september\"><em>&#8216;tZehptember&#8217;<\/em><\/a>. Here too an important point is that the &#8216;S&#8217; in English is pronounced like the <em>&#8216;tZ&#8217;<\/em> ( <em>&#8216;t&#8217;<\/em> is pronounced silently) in German, which is why English September is prnounced as <em>&#8216;tZehptember&#8217;<\/em> in German.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;\"><em><strong>October<\/strong> <\/em>and <em><strong>November<\/strong> <\/em>are pronounced <em><strong>exactly the same<\/strong><\/em> in English and German, however the English October is spelled as <strong>&#8216;<em>Oktober&#8217;<\/em><\/strong> in German.\u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;\"><em>&#8216;<strong>Dezember&#8217;<\/strong><\/em> <em>( Deh-tsem-ber)<\/em> is the name for December, though.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Thus, we have become familiar with the names of Days and Months in German.
