School! a crucial aspect of each of our lives! In these institutions of education, a person is fully formed. As a result, these educational institutions have become particularly significant globally.
We are all familiar with Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary, Higher secondary, College, and University. In this article, we will look at these organizations’ German names and get a brief overview of the German educational system. In Germany, the educational system is very different. Here, various textbooks and curriculum are used in various states. Consequently, there is variation in education.
Education is called ‘Ausbildung’ in German, and the school is called ‘die Schule’. The Pre-Primary and Primary divisions of this ‘Schule’ are referred to as ‘Kindergarten’ and ‘Grundschule’, respectively. Children who turn 6 go to ‘Grundshule’. Education in the Secondary, Higher secondary, and College levels is referred to as ‘Hauptschule’, ‘Realschule’, and ‘Gymnasium‘. After the age of 10, kids are enrolled in this sections. In addition, ‘Gesamtshule’, a comprehensive curriculum, is selected as an alternative to ‘Gymnasium’. All of these sections have various curriculum, age restrictions, and guidelines, as well as varied procedures.
Let’s now learn several terms associated with the organization known as ‘School’. Students are referred to as ‘Schรผler‘ (male students) and ‘Schรผlerin’ (female students). A male teacher is referred to as a ‘Lehrer’, and a female teacher as a ‘Lehrerin’. Subject is short for ‘Fach’ or ‘Fรคcher’, which is its plural. Single subject ‘Englisch’ is ‘Fach’ and ‘Mathe’,‘Geschichte’,‘Wissenschaft’, ‘Sprachen’, ‘Kunst’, ‘Sport’, ‘Musik’ that’s Mathematics, History, Science, Languages, Art, Sports and Music are ‘Fรคcher‘ respectively, that’s subjects.
‘Hochschule’ or ‘Universitรคt’ are other names for College. ‘Klasse’ stands for class i.e 4th, 7th or 8th class. The test is known as ‘Prรผfung’, and the grades are known as ‘Noten’. Homework is referred to as ‘Hauseufgaben’, and ‘Mittagspouse’ is everyone’s favourite tiffin break.
